On 17th August, KAS Eupen’s youth teams will also be competing in the championship at the highest level. An important component of the preparation is the Bitburg sports school, which has hosted the training camp for KAS Eupen’s youth teams for the last three years.
During the first week of August, the U13 to U19 teams have undergone intensive preparation in perfect conditions in order to get ready for the new season. A total of 120 youngsters from KAS Eupen teamed up with their coaches and supervisors. Their programme included early morning sports, two training sessions and lectures on the theory behind KAS Eupen’s playing system. The programme was rounded off with cross-training activities and one test match each against the youth teams from Eintracht Trier and FC Bitburg.
“The aim of the training camp was not only to prepare for the new season, but also to enhance the cooperation among the players and coaching staff in our youth division,” said Nicolas Collubry, the sports director of the U8 to U16 teams at KAS Eupen. “Everything has worked out really well and the results of our training camp in Bitburg are extremely positive, especially as we will also start the season with some new members who have settled in well right from the start.”
Fresh faces among KAS Eupen’s youth supervisors include the new athletic trainer Thierry Habets, a former player from KAS Eupen’s 1st team, and Michel Remacle, who from this season will take over Hans Förster’s role as coordinator of the U13 to U16 teams.
