Three KAS Eupen players played for Qatar’s national A team in the Three Nations Tournament in Doha. Akram Afif and Assim Madibo made the starting eleven for the 0-1 defeat to the Czech Republic and played the full 90 minutes. Abdelkarim Hassan Fadlalla was initially kept in reserve and came on as a substitute in the 2nd half. On Tuesday, Qatar will play its second game of the tournament in Doha against World Cup participant Iceland. KAS Eupen’s three Qatar national players will again be on duty.
1-1 in Algeria: Henry Onyekuru helps Nigeria qualify for the World Cup
Henry Onyekuru and the Nigerian national team have qualified for the World Cup finals in Russia just one day after Moussa Wague, who booked his ticket to the 2018 FIFA World Cup with Senegal. The former Aspire Fellow and AS player, who was active as a goalscorer for Eupen until the summer of 2017, came on as a substitute in the 71st minute of Nigeria’s decisive 1-1 draw and, like Moussa Wague, has the best chance of making it to the 2018 World Cup. For Henry Onyekuru, who had previously been used in a friendly match in his home country, it was the first official competitive game in a ‘Super Eagles’ jersey.
KAS warmly congratulates Henry Onyekuru on his continued success in his sporting career and hopes, fingers crossed, that he will be there in 2018.
