Qatar national player Assim Omer Madibo has arrived for his first training session at KAS Eupen. Assim Omer Madibo has come directly from Doha, where Qatar has just played its last World Cup qualifying match. Madibo was selected as a substitute in the 2-1 loss to China, and from the bench was able to observe the opening goal scored by his KAS teammate Akram Afif.
Assim Omer Madibo was born on 22nd October, 1996, and trained at the Aspire Academy Doha. The midfielder made his professional debut in Austria two years ago with LASK Linz and moved to Spanish club Cultural Leonesa in January 2016. Last season, Assim Madibo played for Qatar premier league team Lekhwiya SC (Al Duhail).
“Now I am looking forward to the next stage of my career at KAS Eupen. Although I have just arrived, I feel very comfortable here. It reminds me a bit of Austria,” said Assim Madibo during his first interview for KAS Eupen’s website. The midfielder’s favourite position is “6”, or central defender, just in front of the defence. 6 is also the jersey number that the Qatari will wear at KAS Eupen. Assim Madibo’s goal is clearly defined: “I would like to develop as a football player at KAS Eupen and do my best to make the team. This is a big ask, but it doesn’t matter – I feel that this is a very good environment for me. I’m looking forward to my time here at KAS Eupen.”
