KAS Eupen has signed Christoph Semmler as the new goalkeeper coach. The 38-year-old joins from Borussia Mönchengladbach, where he has worked since 2013 and most recently looked after the goalkeepers of the U23 squad.
Christoph Semmler comes from northern Germany and during his goalkeeping career played for several well-known clubs in North Rhine-Westphalia such as Borussia Mönchengladbach II, Rot-Weiß Oberhausen and Wuppertal SV. He helped Rot-Weiß Oberhausen get promoted to the second division of the Bundesliga and also played in the second-highest league.
As KAS Eupen goalkeeping coach in the training staff of head coach Claude Makelele, Christoph will be taking responsibility for the goalkeepers of a professional team for the first time. KAS Managing Director Christoph Henkel is delighted with the new addition to KAS Eupen’s coaching staff: “With his career as a goalkeeper at several clubs and his work in the youth performance centre at Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach, Christoph Semmler adds both experience and competence to our coaching team. KAS Eupen extends a warm welcome to Christoph and we look forward to working with him.”
