KAS Eupen has signed German defender Julian Schauerte to their right-back position. The 30-year-old joins KAS Eupen from Fortuna Düsseldorf, newly promoted to the Bundesliga. The professional footballer who trained at Bayer Leverkusen played his first professional games for SV Sandhausen and helped his team win promotion to the second division of the Bundesliga. Julian Schauerte has sported the jersey of Fortuna Düsseldorf for the last 4 years. Fortuna played him in 111 of 136 possible second division matches.
As a teenager, Julian Schauerte was twice selected for the German U16 national team. Eupen’s new signing played a total of 272 championship games for SV Sandhausen and Fortuna Düsseldorf, 101 of these with SV Sandhausen in the third division and 171 for SV Sandhausen and Fortuna Düsseldorf in the second division.
Schauerte has sgined a three-year contract with KAS Eupen until 30 June 2021.
After helping Fortuna Düsseldorf win promotion to the Bundesliga first division, Julian Schauerte is now looking forward to the new challenge of playing abroad for the first time and discovering the Belgian Pro League with KAS Eupen.
