The youth squad of KAS and FC Eupen will be hosting the 4th Dieter Steffens Cup tournament next Saturday, 18th August. The mini-pitch tournament will be held on the artificial turf playing field on the grounds of FC Eupen. The event starts at 10:00 with the tournament for the U8 teams, while the U9 tournament begins at 14:00.
A total of 18 teams from East Belgium, Wallonia and NRW have registered and will see lots of action thanks to the Swiss system. All children participating in the tournament will receive a ticket to a KAS Eupen home game in the Jupiler Pro League. On top of that, the two winning teams will be able to accompany KAS Eupen’s professional players as player escorts at a game in the Kehrweg Stadium to be shown on live TV.
Numerous assistants from the two host associations KAS and FC Eupen will ensure that the tournament progresses smoothly and that entertainment is provided on the tournament grounds. The popular bouncy castle and human table football should prove enticing.
Fair Play will also play an important role next Saturday. In this context, the East Belgium Regional Football Association awards a Fair Play Cup in both age groups and will take into account not only the behaviour of the players on the pitch but also the appearance of the children, parents and companions on the sidelines as a criterion for awarding this prize.
As President of the Youth Player Community and the East Belgium Football Association, Ralph Thomassen is looking forward to the new edition of the Dieter Steffens Cup: “The tournament in mid-August has now become a beautiful tradition and underscores the harmonious coexistence of the youth departments within the two Eupen football clubs. We would like our guests at the fourth edition of the Dieter Steffens Cup to experience this atmosphere. Everyone is welcome to watch the tournament for free.”
