KAS Eupen hosts KV Oostende

The last home game of the 2017-2018 season will take place in the Kehrweg Stadium on Saturday evening. The match between KAS Eupen and KV Oostende kicks off at 20:00. Prior to the game on the 9th match day of the play-off round, both clubs are sitting side by side in the Group 2B table with 8 points each. Immediately before kick-off, KAS Eupen will honour the “Player of the Year”, as chosen by fans.

Four players from the U21 team in the A squad

Due to injuries to his regular players, fewer and fewer players are available to KAS coach Makelele. “The longer the season goes on, the fewer players are still available to me,” said Claude Makelele after the final training session on Friday. “That’s why I had to add 4 players from the U21 team to the A squad.” So goalkeeper Tom Roufosse, defender Pius Borel Palm and the two midfielders Ayoub Elharrak and Lucas Geurde are included in the squad for the match against Oostende.

Silas Gnaka also out: injuries are piling up

Ivorian defender Silas Gnaka was injured in the final training session before Saturday’s game. Mbaye Leye, Rémi Mulumba, Mamadou Koné and Damien Mouchamps remain injured. Even Nils Schouterden is unavailable on Saturday night. That’s because the attacking midfielder has been banned for the last two games of the season. Claude Makelele: Bring a joyful end to the season and hopefully get a win

Due to numerous losses, the result of the game against Oostende is of secondary importance to KAS Eupen’s coach, but Claude Makelele is hoping his team wins: “I am not fixated on the outcome of the game, but, of course, I hope that a win is forthcoming for my players and the public at the last home game of the season, and that we derive some pleasure from playing at the end of the season and that the players who play this time can make the most of their opportunity.”

Award for the “Player of the Season”

Before kick-off, KAS Eupen will announce the winner of the fan vote and award the player of the 2017-2018 season with a trophy. Last season saw the first-ever online voting by fans and captain Luis Garcia received the most votes. We look forward to seeing who the fans of KAS Eupen have voted in first place this time.
