The last game of the first half of the Jupiler Pro League season between KAS Eupen and R Antwerp FC has become a hot topic for conversation. Fans and the media are looking forward with particular excitement to the first match under head coach Claude Makelele. Will the much-anticipated Makelele effect materialise on the pitch? That’s the question everyone is asking. More than 5000 fans have secured their tickets for the match kicking off at 20:00 on Saturday and will be watching the game live at the Kehrweg Stadium. Due to the increased security regulations for this risk category C game, the ticket office at the Kehrweg Stadium will remain closed. Only those who already have a ticket will be allowed access to the stadium.
Use tactical discipline to exploit the qualities of the team
New head coach Claude Makelele has spent the last ten days preparing KAS Eupen for its first game under his leadership. His settling-in period has ended on a positive note: “I have high-quality players, but unfortunately they have been lacking in tactical discipline so far this season, so we’ve been working on that,” said Claude Makelele at his pre-match press conference. “But I am confident that we will make progress in this regard with every training session because my players are receptive and diligent. Of course, although Antwerp is a strong opponent, currently 6th in the table, our goal is to win our home game against them . We want and need to win our home games.”
Representing the players, Hendrik Van Crombrugge answered journalists’ questions at the press conference before Saturday evening’s match. Following the injury to his adductor, Hendrik Van Crombrugge reported that he was again 100% fit and ready for action should the new coach select him, adding, in relation to the work performed by the new coach, “We have been playing under Spanish coaches for almost 6 years and assume that Claude Makelele has a different set of priorities. He is very clear and direct. We have had a good collaboration with him over the last ten days and hope that we can show against Antwerp that we are all on the same page.”
Risk category C: Do not bring bags or backpacks
An absolute ban on bags and backpacks applies to fans of both teams for risk category C games. Handbags, belt bags and backpacks may not be brought into the stadium. This also applies to the business area. In addition, umbrellas with a tip may not be admitted. Only umbrellas without a tip will be permitted. Since there is no facility to deposit bags at the entrances to the stadium, handbags and backpacks, not to mention umbrellas with a tip, should be left at home or in cars.
