KAS Eupen’s home tie against KSC Lokeren

The tension is rising from week to week: will KAS Eupen be able to avoid relegation from the Jupiler Pro league? The third to last tie takes place this Saturday. On this 28th match-day, the team coached by Claude Makelele hosts KSC Lokeren in the Kehrweg Stadium. Kick-off is at 20:00 and it’s “all or nothing” for KAS Eupen. The team just has to win this match against an opponent just two places above them. Eupen’s rival in the fight to avoid relegation, KV Mechelen, has a home tie against second-placed Charleroi, with kick-off at 18:00.

Eupen’s centre-back back in the line-up

“Lokeren is a well-organised team with a strong away performance. It doesn’t let you have many chances,” said Claude Makelele at the pre-match press conference. “This means we’ve got to stay patient, looking for that chance to score the winning goal.” Turning to Saturday’s line-up, the French coach was quite cagey as usual, although he did announce that Siebe Blondelle, Mathieu Peybernes and Jordan Lotiès were fit again. He has still got to find a solution to the problem of replacing suspended Eupen forward Mbaye Leye. CLICK HERE to view the squad nominated by the coach for the tie against Lokeren.

Siebe Blondelle: “Everything is still possible”

Siebe Blondelle was the player selected to field journalists’ questions in the run-up to the important home tie. “My injury is a lot better and I feel fit for Saturday evening’s important game, but I’ll have to wait and see whether the coach nominates me for the line-up.” With regard to the fight to avoid relegation, Siebe Blondelle had this to say: “We’ve got three games left. Everything is still possible!”
