Luis Garcia will play another year for KAS Eupen

Team captain Luis Garcia is remaining loyal to KAS Eupen. The Spaniard signed his new contract with KAS Eupen on Saturday evening. So Luis Garcia will also wear the KAS Eupen jersey next season and lead the team for the third consecutive season in the first division.

KAS Eupen received the news of the continued cooperation of the former Espanyol captain and Spanish international with great joy. This will surely be mirrored by the reaction of the fans, who have taken Luis Garcia to their hearts thanks to his athletic and human qualities and who again voted the 37-year-old captain as Player of the Year a few days ago. Luis Garcia’s new contract with KAS Eupen runs until 30th June 2019.

“The club, the city and the Eupen fans have become very dear to me over the last few years. I feel very comfortable in this environment, I’m fit and and I’m highly motivated to resume the fight again next season with AS. My ambition is to make next season one where we no longer all have to worry as we have done in the past. I would also like to thank all the fans, my teammates and those responsible for their support and trust, and I will do my best to repay this with my best possible performance,” said Luis Garcia, who is currently training for a coaching licence in Madrid and was released from KAS for this reason.

“It’s not only on the pitch that Luis is a role model and leader for KAS Eupen who encourages and makes his teammates stronger. He is one of the outstanding players in the Pro League and commands the highest respect throughout the Belgian football scene. Everyone at KAS Eupen is thrilled to be able to start the new season with Luis Garcia, “said KAS Director General Christoph Henkel immediately after reaching agreement with him.

Claude Makelele, KAS Eupen’s head coach, is also delighted: “I am happy that our captain, who is such a vital pillar of our team, is staying on board. I also see it as an important sign in terms of the further composition of our team for next season.”
