A great “first” for KAS Eupen yesterday in Moscow. Moussa Wague became the first ever KAS Eupen player to play in a World Cup match. The KAS Eupen right back played for Senegal’s national team in the country’s first group match against Poland. Out on the pitch for the full 90 minutes, Moussa Wague put in a good performance in Senegal’s 2:1 win over Poland and can thus expect to be included in further World Cup line-ups. Just 19 years old, Moussa Wague is one of the youngest World Cup players in 2018. KAS Eupen extends its congratulations to Moussa Wague for his successful World Cup début.
KAS Eupen is proud of its player
Thomas Herbert was there watching the game in Spartak Moscow’s World Cup stadium. In Russia for one week, KAS Eupen’s financial director crossed his fingers for Moussa Wague in the latter’s first World Cup match. “It was a great feeling, being able to watch one of our own players out on the pitch playing for his country. The whole club can be proud of Moussa being nominated to play for Senegal in the World Cup, that he managed to get into the line-up for his country’s first match and that he put in such a good performance”, said Thomas Herbert. Thomas also enthused about the atmosphere in Russia, saying that it was “just fantastic. The whole population and fans from all over the world are out there arm in arm, celebrating this World Cup. It’s one big football party, something you only get during a World Cup.”
