The KAS Eupen U21 team won its two latest home draws, one in the international ETT Cup and the other in the Reserve 1A League. In the ETT Cup tie, the team coached by Egide Forthomme won 3:0 against the hitherto unbeaten Luxembourg selection, while the league game between KAS Eupen and SC Charleroi ended 1:0.
Clear-cut cup win
In its ETT Cup tie against Luxembourg, KAS Eupen was already 3 goals up at half-time, with Damien Mouchamps scoring from the penalty spot, and Allal Messaoudi and Samba Ndiaye scoring the other two goals. Coach Egide Forthomme made good use of the lead to bring on all reserve player in the second half, without endangering the team’s lead.
Successful comeback for Nicolas Timmermans
In the Reserve 1A League tie, KAS professional Nicolas Timmermans celebrated his comeback after being off injured for 8 months. The centre-back played the first half, putting in a good performance after such a long pause without any problems. For KAS head coach Jordi Condom, this was the signal to put Nicolas Timmermans in the 1st team line-up for the play-off tie against KRC Genk.
Premature end to the match
Nicolas Timmermans’ U21 team colleagues also put in a good show in the match against Charleroi, winning 1:0. The only goal of the match was scored from the penalty spot in the 15th minute by Allal Messaoudi. Shortly before the end of the game, a severe incident involving an SC Charleroi player – but no other players – occurred. As a result, the player had to be taken to hospital. Following a long interruption, the referee and the two teams agreed to end the match prematurely in the 88th minute. As the match had almost run its full length, it has been rated as a 1:0 win for KAS Eupen.
