Xavi Molina is joining KAS Eupen from Spanish football’s second highest league, LaLiga2. The 31-year-old central defender recently played for Gimnàstic de Tarragona, where he was team captain and top performer. He made his club’s starting eleven for 38 out of 42 match days during the 2017-2018 season.
Xavi Molina joined Gimnàstic de Tarragona from Atletico Baleares in 2013 and, by the end of the 2015-2016 season, had helped Tarragona win promotion to LaLiga2. KAS Eupen’s new 1.81-metre central defender brings with him the experience of a total of 113 championship games in Spain’s second highest league.
Xavi Molina has signed a two-year contract with KAS Eupen until 30 June 2020.
KAS Managing Director Christoph Henkel is delighted with the newcomer from Spain: “With the class and experience he has gained from LaLiga2, Xavi Molina will help us kick off the new season with a solid defence. As team captain, he was a real leader of his teammates at his previous club. This is a quality that also makes him a real asset to our team. We are very happy that Xavi Molina will be wearing the jersey of KAS Eupen next season and we look forward to working with him. Welcome to Belgium, Xavi!”
