KAS Eupen has completed a definitive transfer for Japanese striker Yuta Toyokawa and has extended his employment contract, ahead of schedule, until 30 June 2019. The original agreement was to loan the player until the summer of 2018. Due to mutual good impressions, both KAS Eupen and Yuta Toyokawa were interested in a longer-term cooperation. In talks with Leeds United and his Japanese home club Kashima Antlers, KAS Eupen was able to sign the 23-year-old striker for the long term.
Yuta Toyokawa joined KAS Eupen at the beginning of the current winter transfer period and participated in the training camp in Doha after a successful trial in Eupen. He is eligible to play in the championship game against Standard Liège on Saturday and is in the squad for his new club.
KAS CEO Christoph Henkel expressed his delight at extending the cooperation with Yuta Toyokawa: “Within a short period of time, Yuta has integrated well not only into our team, but also into our club. That’s why we share our new new player’s desire for a longer-term cooperation. Following talks with Leeds United and Kashima Antlers, we are very pleased to have been able to secure Yuta for our club.”
