Former AS Eupen player Akram Afif voted Asian Footballer of the Year for the 2nd time
Qatari striker Akram Afif has been voted Asian Footballer of the Year for the 2nd time in his career. The award was announced at the Night of Excellence in Seoul. In awarding the prize, the jury paid particular tribute to Akram Afif’s outstanding performance at the Asian Championship in January 2024.
Akram Afif was the tournament’s top scorer with 8 goals and scored three goals from the penalty spot in the 3-1 final victory over Jordan in Doha. For Akram Afif, this is already the 2nd proclamation as Asia’s best football player after 2019.
The 27-year-old attacking player, a 107-time Qatar international, has been playing in the Qatar Stars League for Al-Sadd SC since 2020. From January 2015 to June 2016 and during the first half of the 2017-2018 season, Akram Afif wore the shirt of KAS Eupen. He played a total of 42 matches for the Pandas and scored 9 goals.
