Panda Women celebrate promotion with 17:0 win at Herve B
With a 17:0 festival at FC Herve B this Sunday, Panda Women A achieved promotion to the 1st provincial division and crowned an exceptional season. With their 14th win in a row, the first women’s team of KAS Eupen won the championship of the 2nd provincial division two match days before the end in front of 100 fans and made the leap to the highest provincial division perfect. A great success for the Panda Women, which was only founded two years ago and now has two teams.
The team management and sponsor Nicki’s Imbiss had made provisions and presented the celebrating players from Panda Women A and B with the championship jerseys bearing the words “Meisterinnen – Championnes”. Head coach Farrah Meyer’s team took the final and decisive step on match day 14 with a clear victory in Herve.
There was no sign of nerves in the Panda Women’s promotion match on Sunday. Floriane Scheen put her team 1:0 ahead after 13 minutes. Before the break, Basak Cabuk, Caroline Brauwers, Chelsea Frederick, Basak Cabuk again, Liana Gyet, team captain Miriam Schulzen (with a remarkable free-kick goal) and Nahel Haddouchi increased the lead to 8:0 and documented KAS Eupen’s clear superiority.
After the break, the Eupen team continued to score goals. Floriane Scheen and Basak Cabuk scored two more goals each, and Liana Gyet, Eva Federowicz, Nahel Haddouchi and Lynn Girckens added a total of 9 goals in the second half.
